Choose from live elements like moss, ferns, and succulents, along with essential substrates and decorative accents, all thoughtfully chosen to enhance the health and beauty of your bonsai art.
Planting & Design & Styling: Planting Techniques:
Discover how to pot your bonsai trees using the proper substrates, drainage materials, and additives for healthy growth. Understand the principles of depth, balance, and spacing to mimic the serenity of a real forest.
Trimming & Pruning & Wiring Basics:
Master essential trimming and pruning techniques to shape your bonsai trees and maintain their aesthetic over time. Understand the fundamentals of wiring to train your trees into desired shapes and styles, giving your forest its unique personality.

Our spacious, well-lit workshop area is designed for comfort and inspiration. We offer tables, chairs, and plenty of parking to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. 2 bathrooms on-site.

A bonsai forest, also known as a group planting or "Yose-ue" in Japanese, is a stunning arrangement of multiple bonsai trees planted together in a single container. The trees are carefully placed to mimic the look and feel of a natural forest, with variations in height and spacing to create depth and perspective. Each forest is a unique work of living art that symbolizes harmony, connection, and balance in nature.
You can easily reserve your spot by selecting your preferred date and completing the registration online. Spaces are limited, so we recommend booking early to secure your spot. Feel free to also email or call us for a quick & easy registration.
Due to limited availability (only 4 spaces), we encourage participants to register as early as possible. Workshops can fill up quickly, so booking ahead ensures you don’t miss out.
Yes! We have plenty of free parking available at our Bonsai Ottawa shop, located at 2784 Lancaster Rd, for your convenience.
All necessary supplies are provided, including a 4+ year old juniper tree, a handmade ceramic bonsai pot with a tray, bonsai soil, drainage stones, decorative stones and rocks, drainage nets, pot wire, training wire, and a Juniper instruction card.
Yes! Our shop will be open during the workshop, and you'll have the opportunity to purchase additional bonsai tools, pots, and other supplies.

Yes, we can accommodate upgrades. Simply let us know in advance if you'd like to choose a larger tree or a different variety, and we’ll make the necessary arrangements. You’ll only need to pay the price difference. If you find another tree you prefer on the day of the workshop, we’ll do our best to accommodate any changes on the spot.
