Fruitful Pomegranate Bonsai
Pomegranate | Punica Granatum
Pomegranate, also called Punica Granatum, can grow up to 30 feet tall and live for up to 400 or 500 years. This tree is highly valued for its delicious and large fruit, with young trees also capable of producing fruit.
Originally the pomegranate is indigenous to Iran, Armenia and North India, but it is also widespread in Asia and in mediterranean countries.
Leaves: The leaves are long and narrow, with a light green color that darkens with age. They are glossy and arranged opposite each other, measuring between 1"-3". With consistent defoliation, they can shrink down to 1".
Flowers: During the Spring and Summer, a vibrant red, trumpet-shaped flower emerges, eventually leading to the growth of a juicy, red pomegranate in the Fall. Pomegranate trees are classified as monoecious plants, containing both male and female reproductive organs on a single tree, allowing for self-pollination.
Sun Requirement: Full Sun
Watering Requirements: Soak the entire substrate by thoroughly watering the soil. Maintain a slightly moist environment by watering regularly, but avoid over-soaking. Be careful not to let the root ball dry out completely.
