




Shimpaku Juniper
The Shimpaku Juniper is one of the highest regarded trees for bonsai in Japan, known for its dark green foliage and small needle size, flexibility and hardiness. 'Shimpaku' is a dwarf variety of the juniper.
Healthy Shimpaku junipers are easy to spot. The needles are green and round. The foliage is dense. There are few, if any, brown needles. Shimpaku, grow densely and elongate as they gain vigor. Vigorous trees will recover from styling faster than less vigorous specimens. When it comes to watering a Shimpaku Juniper, you need to strike a good balance between water and sunlight. Generally speaking, the more sunlight a bonsai tree absorbs, the more water it needs.
